It's been no secret that the fashion industry has its "ways".
We've heard it from some of the most prominent top African-American models in the industry. A large number of them maintain that fashion leans toward a more fair skinned model most of the time for shows, spreads, and things of the like.
Not often did you get a model whose soul vocal in an industry where there's so much competition.
That's exactly what we got today!
In her instagram, Nykhor Paul spoke loudly about some of the disparities that occur at some of the shows she's asked to walk in. She mentions having to bring her own makeup to a show…
"Why do I have to bring my own makeup to a professional show when all the other white girls don't have to do anything but show up wtf!" @nykhor
Now, while many may say that this is an isolated incident, she says it's happened more times than this, stating,
"I'm tired of complaining about not getting book as a black model and I'm definitely super tired of apologizing for my blackness!!"
check out the whole post on instagram, @nykhor! It's riveting!
